so sad

Today I went to a memorial service for the mom of a girl I work with. Her mom got diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago and it slowly invaded almost every organ in her body. I was a total weeping blubbery mess and I'd never even met the woman. I think mostly I was thinking about how I don't know how I could ever begin to cope if it were one of my parents. And it made me so thankful that my mom's battle with breast cancer was relatively easy compared to what Wendy's poor mom went through.
