Christmas Eve

Tis Christmas Eve and I'm all by my lonesome. But it's really not so bad. I was home all last week and I get to go back tomorrow (Christmas) after I finish my shift. Today I had to work the pm holiday shift. That means going in from either 1-3 or 2-4, of course if it takes you longer you are expected to stay. So I went in a little before 1 and was done by 3:15- and I get paid for a full 8 hour day! Woohoo to that. It was kind of fun, actually. The zoo was deserted- closed to the public and I didn't even see any other keepers around, just one curator. It was peaceful and I just went through my checklist of things to get done. No major medical catastrophes so that was good. Tomorrow I have the am holiday shift which starts at 7. I'm hoping to be done by 9 on the dot so I can get on the road and be home by noonish.

So back to my Christmas Eve. I didn't sleep in even though I could have but the problem is my body just won't let me even when I want to. SO I got up, went to he bank, the library, the pharmacy, got gas, and went to the gym. It was my first workout in 3 weeks (!) because I seriously screwed up my hip somehow. Anyway, the not working out combined with the Christmas cookies and goodies has been bad bad bad. I don't even want to admit how much weight I've gained. Plus not working out has had me feeling antsy. So I went today even though my hip still doesn't feel totally healed. Hopefully I didn't make it any worse. Then after work I took a walk along the Schuykill river. Came back to the apartment and fell asleep on the couch. Went to Dunkin' Donuts for a chocolate coffee and when I came back my phone was ringing. Almost didn't answer it because I didn't recognise the number. But sooo glad I did because it was Lauren calling from London! She's all alone for the holiday too, so we had a nice chat. Now I'm going to take a hot shower and plunker down in front of the telly. Good times.
