Back to VA it is

Today I had an interview at a zoo that's about 20 minutes from here. The only reason I was actually able to get an interview is because it's so small. I wasn't sure how I felt about it. On the one hand, I would be able to stay in this area, which I like and am already familiar with. Plus it would give me that all-so-important "keeper experience" that I "lack", which has prevented me from getting interviews at bigger zoos. Big zoos just ignore me when I send them applications/resumes. It's awesome. The downsides to this place were pretty big though. The keepers work 11 hour days and get paid shit. Imagine a really crappy salary. Now cut that in half and it's probably still more than these poor (literally) people make for such tough work. It was actually pretty funny when I got there today, the lead curator/keeper was a few minutes late meeting me because he had to do something with the alligator. When he showed up, he had blood running down his arm. So he showed me around (which didn't take long). Then I dropped the bomb that I was planning on moving back to Virginia in 3 weeks because I hadn't found a job up here AND that I would be in Europe for 2 weeks in July. Let me tell you, after I said that he couldn't get me out of his "office" (a trailor) fast enough. I think his actual words were "we should probably end this here". Oh well, so much for that. The decision was made for me. At least now I don't have to worry about weighing the pros against the cons or finding a new place to live up here in no time flat. It's back to good ol' northern Viginia for now, then maybe O.C. after the vacation. Beyond that I have no frickin' clue. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with my life, this is getting ridiculous.
