I need to rant a little...

For those of you who may not have watched the VP debate last night, let me fill you in on what you missed- Sarah Palin is a delusional idiot who needs to wipe that condescending smirk off of her ignorant face. When she claimed that global warming is only partly mans' fault, but also largely do to natural fluctuations of the Earth, I actually said "oh my god, you must be kidding me" out loud even though I was all alone. Oh and apparently "drilling is safe" (direct quote there). I guess she's never heard of an oil spill. Another good one- some other countries don't respect the rights we give to women. But only SOME rights, right Sarah? Because we wouldn't want to allow them to marry whomever they choose or make the decision that's best for them regarding pregnancy.

A few weeks ago I attended an event held at the zoo after work. The man presenting had spent the past 12 years of his life studying and photographing polar bears and the Arctic. The pictures he showed had me in tears. Photos of bears so thin that you could see every rib in their body. An aerial shot of a mother swimming and her cub following close behind. The cub later drwoned because it didn't have the stamina to keep swimming the long distance between pieces of ice. Years ago, mothers usually produced twins. Twins are now almost unheard of, as the mothers' body conditions can't support it.

I left that lecture incredibly sad at what we are losing, but also very angry at the people that don't seem to understand what's at stake, and that's it's our responsibility to change they way we are living. Maybe the answer isn't to "drill baby, drill" for more oil, maybe it's to use less.

Eat it McCain and Palin.
